Dog Association of Western Australia (Inc) was founded in the late 1950's.
A short breed history and club background relevant to this State is included
on this webpage underneath the list of current club officials and contacts.
An important contact is the German Shepherd Dog Rescue Service, based on
the voluntary efforts of very dedicated club members. |

Constitution
and Rules
|
The German Shepherd
Dog Association of Western Australia (Inc), like many other organizations,
associations and clubs, is an incorporated organization under the Western
Australia Associations Incorporation Act 1987. This webpage covers the
club's Basic Constitution (CAWA Z Rules), Domestic Rules - (CAWA Z Rules
- Domestic Rules) and Recommended Breeding Practices. |

The German Shepherd
Dog Association of Western Australia (Inc) is pleased to present the selected
extracts from its magazine, THE GERMAN SHEPHERD DOG NEWS, together with
other Articles and Club Notices. Items include national and interstate
GSD show/trials schedules, GSDA of WA sponsorships, and general GSD related
articles of interest. |

Training
Venues
|
Generally, all training
is undertaken from March to November with a break during summer in the
months of December to February. Summer socialization classes (Pre-kindy)
only are conducted weekly at GSDA Headquarters, Passmore Street, Southern
River, commencing at 19:30pm on 7 January 2004 until normal training arrangements
resume in March. |

Responsible
Ownership
|
The GSDA of WA (Inc)
encourages the owners of all dogs, especially those with German Shepherd
Dogs to be responsible owners within their communities. To achieve this
outcome, owners need to obedience train and socialize their German Shepherd
Dogs. Our club is very active in the local CAWA's "Canine Good Companions",
and our very comprehensive training classes at club venues. |

Breed
Standard
|
The Breed Standard
for the German Shepherd Dog as adopted by the Canine Association of Western
Australia (CAWA), Australian National Kennel Council (ANKC) and German
Shepherd Dog Council of Australia (GSCDA) from the country of origin, Germany
and consistent with the international canine controlling body, the Federation
Cynologique Internationale (FCI). |

Breed
Information
|
The GSDA of WA (Inc)
encourages the owners of all German Shepherd Dogs to be responsible owners
and develop as much knowledge about the Breed as possible. This way in
the long term, the Breed may be better understood and appreciated by the
wider community, whilst challenge those of us already committed to contribute
to the further development of the German Shepherd Dog as a Breed. |

GSDCA
Schemes
|
The GSDA of WA (Inc)
is a member of the German Shepherd Dog Council of Australia (GSDCA) (Inc).
As such, we have contributed to the development, operation and promotion
of those GSDCA Schemes for breed improvement to the German Shepherd Dog
as a Breed. Access to these schemes is available in all significant states
and territories of Australia. |

The GSDA of WA (Inc)
strongly suggests that you purchase your new German Shepherd Dog Puppy
from a breeder whom has endeavoured to breed to the best available standards
and practices. Please also refer to all the information contained in this
website, especially the Constitution and Rules webpage section entitled
Recommended Breeding Practices, and to the GSDCA Schemes webpage. |

list the breeders, stud dog owners and boarding kennels, all of whom as
club members conform to the club's Recommended Breeding Practices and GSDCA
Breed Improvement Schemes with all of their breeding dogs and bitches in
their breeding programme. |

and Trial Results
|
The German Shepherd
Dog Association of Western Australia (Inc) conducts breed conformation
shows, agility and jumping trials, endurance tests and obedience trials
under the rules and regulations of the ANKC, CAWA and GSDCA. Details, including
critiques where available, of all exhibits, place getters and winners are
included. |

Event Calendar
|
The German Shepherd
Dog Association of Western Australia (Inc) conducts a number of events
and functions, including shows, exhibitions, obedience trials, agility
and jumping trials, tracking tests, endurance tests, the West Coast Challenge,
the WA State Breed Exhibition, club meetings, breed surveys, breed lectures
and social functions. Also National GSD events are included in the calendar. |

to the many German Shepherd Dog and Canine Breed organisations, some of

Rescue Service
|
The Rescue Service
of the German Shepherd Dog Association of Western Australia (Inc) started
in the late 1960's. It is listed on the "About GSDA of WA" webpage as part
of the list of current club officials and contacts. It is an important
voluntary service, based on the caring efforts for the welfare of GSD's
by very dedicated club members. |
