GSDA of WA Summer Training and Socialization Classes 2009-2010 have now commenced.

Club HQ, Passmore Street, Southern River :
Puppy Socialization - 2nd, 9th and 16th December 2009 - 6th, 13th, 20th and 27th January 2010 - 7:00pm to 8:00pm
All Training and Socialization Classes - 3rd February to 3rd March 2010 - Juniors 7:30pm to 8:30pm - Seniors 8:30pm to 9:30pm

MacDonald Reserve, Padbury :
Puppy Socialization - 2nd, 9th and 16th December 2009 - 6th, 13th, 20th and 27th January 2010 - 7:00pm to 8:00pm
All Training and Socialization Classes - 3rd February to 3rd March 2009 - Juniors and Seniors 7:00pm to 8:00pm

Sunday Morning Training and Socialization Classes for 2010 will commence 7th March 2010 - see the Event Calendar.

Training Times :

Generally, all daytime training is undertaken on Sunday mornings, from March to November, with a break during summer in the months of December to February. Summer socialization classes, for new members/puppies (Pre-kindy), are conducted weekly at GSDA Headquarters, Passmore Street, Southern River and MacDonald Reserve, Forrest Road, Padbury. Classes commence at 19:00 (7:00pm) on Wednesday evenings, from December to February, until normal Sunday morning training arrangements resume at the start of March (see above for full detail).

YOU KNOW YOU NEED TOO !  REMEMBER YOUR TRASH IS SOMEONE ELSES TREASURE !

Items will include Clothes, Bric a brac, Furniture, Treasures and dogs stuff. Also, there will be a cake stall, raffle and the club canteen will be open with working dogs and training classes to watch.

All welcome ! ... but only members dogs can enter the ground, and all dogs will be on leads and under control.

Proceed funds our SBE this year.

Australian Swiss Search Dog Association Inc (ASSDA)

The ASSDA's search and rescue activities will be featured on the Channel 10 TV programme "Totally Wild", with the first canine story going to air on Friday, 28 August 2009, at 7:30 am. The GSDCA's highly regarded GSD trainer and enthusiast Elke Effler, from Victoria has provided us with the following details :

Hello Friends of Search Dogs

 

The 'Totally Wild' film crew filmed our dog teams whilst we were in Adelaide in May for the 48-hour South Australian USAR Task Force exercise and a specialist USAR course.

 

The filming will be on air on Friday, 28th August 2009 on Channel 10 at 7.30 AM .

GSDA of WA Breed Forum 2009

Our Breed Forum 2009 is being held at 11:30am, Sunday 5^th April 2009, at the Club Headquarters, Southern River. This event precedes the second Breed Survey for 2009, that is scheduled for 1:00pm.

This Breed Forum is being conducted to enable you to contribute and share views on our club’s breed activities include Breeding, Showing, Surveying, Training, Obedience, Agility, Endurance Tests, Puppy Socialization, Breed Promotion and Community Acceptance (support to Public Relations, Legislation, General Canine Activities, etc.).

 All Club Members are welcome to attend this important event.

Requirements for Tattoo Identification that is Difficult.

Procedure if a Tattoo is Difficult to Read :

Case 1. If the tattoo is partially visible, but you are unable to read the entire tattoo. The dog is to be tattooed when under anaesthetic for the hip/elbow xray, by a club tattoo officer, not the veterinarian, in the left ear with its original tattoo prefix/number.

Case 2. If the tattoo is not visible at all, then the owner is to apply for an "AUS" number. This is to be applied when the dog is under anaesthetic for the hip/elbow xray, by a club tattoo officer, not the veterinarian, in the right ear.

In both cases, the attending club tattoo officer is to report this to the club's Tattoo Registrar for GSDCA recording purposes.
