Requirements for Tattoo Identification that is Difficult.

Procedure if a Tattoo is Difficult to Read :

Case 1. If the tattoo is partially visible, but you are unable to read the entire tattoo. The dog is to be tattooed when under anaesthetic for the hip/elbow xray, by a club tattoo officer, not the veterinarian, in the left ear with its original tattoo prefix/number.

Case 2. If the tattoo is not visible at all, then the owner is to apply for an "AUS" number. This is to be applied when the dog is under anaesthetic for the hip/elbow xray, by a club tattoo officer, not the veterinarian, in the right ear.

In both cases, the attending club tattoo officer is to report this to the club's Tattoo Registrar for GSDCA recording purposes.

West Coast Challenge Agility Stakes.

The West Coast Challenge Agility Stakes is held every year in the main ring for the West Coast Challenge Show, just after lunch on the Sunday. This is an event that can only be entered by invitation and those invited are the top six GSD’s over 6 nominated trials during the proceeding year.

This year we saw:

Wayne Martin with Kshatra Copper Rose,
Eric Herson with Adashad Pretty Woman,
Angela Richards with Ubermacht Xmas Holly,
Bill Duhig with Iccara Caramia,
Angela Richards with Seigen Brun Berg, and
Eric Protti with Zollern Ziggys Cassie,

John set a very free flowing Open Level course that provided the GSD teams with an opportunity to show their skills to the many spectators. Each team did just that and it became a great promotion for the ability of our GSD breed.

Each dog had to run 2 rounds, and in contrast to last year's very hot conditions, the dogs and handlers had to compete in light rain. When each dog and handler had gone around twice, the times and very few faults were added up.

Eventual winners were the very popular handler Angela Richards with her fast dog Seigen Brun Berg. This was their first time competing for this highly regarded trophy. The last two year's winner Wayne Martin and Kshatra Copper Rose came a close second, this being the bitch's final competition before retirement at 9 years of age.

Congratulations to our winners and well done to the rest of the group for qualifying for the final of this competition, and then performing so well in the difficult conditions.
