The German Shepherd Dog Association of Western Australia (Inc) encourages the owners of all German Shepherd Dogs to be responsible owners and develop as much knowledge about the Breed as possible. This way in the long term, the Breed may be better understood and appreciated by the wider community, whilst challenge those of us already committed to contribute to the further development of the German Shepherd Dog as a Breed. Information for Breeders and Owners. Artificial Insemination (AI) - Semen (Chilled or Frozen) : The use of chilled or frozen semen for artificial insemination in dog breeding programmes has become more prevalent in recent years. In order to gain registration of the resulting puppies or litters within Australia, this requires the following procedures, as set by the ANKC and administered by your local State/Territory Kennel Control, to be followed : Link to ANKC Procedure

Current official and State/Territory specific Forms 1, 2 and 3 (and any further details or information) should be sought directly from your local State/Territory Kennel Control. Requirements for Tattoo Identification that is Difficult : Procedure if a Tattoo is Difficult to Read : Case 1. If the tattoo is partially visible, but you are unable to read the entire tattoo. The dog is to be tattooed when under anaesthetic for the hip/elbow xray, by a club tattoo officer, not the veterinarian, in the left ear with its original tattoo prefix/number. Case 2. If the tattoo is not visible at all, then the owner is to apply for an "AUS" number. This is to be applied when the dog is under anaesthetic for the hip/elbow xray, by a club tattoo officer, not the veterinarian, in the right ear. In both cases, the attending club tattoo officer is to report this to the club's Tattoo Registrar for GSDCA recording purposes. Owners of Kennel Control registered German Shepherd Dogs please note that the next Breed Survey to be held by the GSDA of WA (Inc.) will be: DATE: Saturday 24th February 2007. TIME: 18:00 (6:00pm). VENUE: GSDA of WA HQ, 23 Passmore Street, Southern River 6115 WA. FEE: $30. 00 (includes GST) Please make cheques payable to the GSDCA. SURVEYORS: Mr J Fenner, Mrs H Gross-Richardson, Mrs R Knuckey. Note: As from National Council AGM (1996) Members may exercise freedom of choice in Surveyor, NBC Chairman. Qualification for Survey: Any purebred, KC registered German Shepherd Dog or Bitch between the age of 18 months and 8 years on the date of the survey. * Major Contributing Bloodlines In Australia. By Ros Henderson-Hobson As a breeder and enthusiast I have come to love and admire our more modern foundation bloodlines in Australia. These dogs who have cemented their many virtues into the Australian German Shepherd Dog we see today. This article has been written for the benefit of those who would like to know about our Excellent Select male lines and their originating bloodlines. Please note this article has been written by myself as a breed enthusiast and breeder, not as a judge or breed surveyor, so all comments are my own opinions and ideals.
The Quanto vd Weinerau bloodline was well utilized through Rene Ronkin of Prima Kennels who bred Ch Prima Zorba BS Cl I A, a dual Excellent Select (1989, 90). Zorba was linebred 4/3 on Axel vd Hainsterbach a Quanto grandson. A further major bloodline influence coming from Dunmonaidh Junker, a three times National winner, also descending from the Quanto vd Weinerau line.
From Prima Zorba we were able to utilize his ability to produce very good forequarters, substance, full coats, and correct skull structure. Zorba was mated to Crossfire Caddy Shack, an Edlenblut Orkan daughter successfully three times. The first mating producing :
Karlrach Combination BS Cl I A Z Excellent Select. He being very much in the type of his father, was able to cement his many virtues, and produced :
Lindendale Strike Force BS Cl I A Z Excellent Select. As with all bloodlines, there must be an inherent ability to continue on reproducing the virtues and attributes needed to breed quality German Shepherd Dogs.
Canto vd Weinerau bloodline has also been extensively used to produce outstanding dogs, who have given much to the breed.
Ch Edlenblut Orkan BS Cl I A Excellent Select descends back to the Canto bloodline, as well as to those of Quanto, Mutz and Marko. His sireline goes back to Pele Aegigiendamm. Orkan has produced many outstanding dogs and bitches in particular Ambala Lovely Lady, the dam of Ch Dorsten Monte Cito BS Cl I A Z Excellent Select.
Ch Dorsten Monte Cito, from the sireline of Hasenway Putz/Condor v Arminius to Canto vd Weinerau, has continued on down many generations producing strength and great zestfulness. I saw this dog at past years Nationals and was still impressed by his vitality and character, even when he was past his prime.
Monte Cito’s best son is Ch Hasenway Wild Knight BS Cl I A Z Excellent Select. Wild Knight's progeny have personally always impressed me with their very clean movement. To watch a progeny class from this sire is always awesome, for the soundness in movement is clearly evident. Wild Knight produced the outstanding son Karlrach Rum Ball BS Cl I A Z Excellent Select, who carries Combination/Zorba through the damline. Interesting is the breeding of Karlrach Rum Ball, which successfully combines the bloodline of Karlrach Combination and Hasenway Wild Knight. So in effect we are seeing the blend of Zorba/Orkan or, that is Quanto/Canto, as a beneficial breeding with much success for breeders who utilize these bloodlines. Nick vd Weinerau, is the son of Flora v Konigsbruch, who is the daughter of Canto vd Weinerau. Again we see the influence of Canto vd Weinerau coming down through the bloodlines, via his daughter Flora v Konisgbruch. As we know Nick vd Weinerau is the sire of Palme v Wildsteiger Land, from which many of Germany's top producing VA males descend.
From this bloodline comes the outstanding dog Ch Quincito Awol BS Cl I A Z Excellent Select, who is a son of Heiko vd Burg. Haus Brunn. Awol has an outstanding front assembly, and has produced many quality dogs and bitches.
One of Awol's best sons is Kerhund Capricorn Dancer BS Cl I A Z Excellent Select. Awol is also recognized for producing very good fore and hind quarter angulations in his many progeny.
Uran v Wildsteiger Land, a son of Palme v Wildsteiger Land, (Nick vd Weinerau/Canto vd Weinerau lines) bloodline presents the outstanding Iniff Vagrant BS Cl I A Z Excellent Select. From the sire line we have Ch Edlenblut Orkan, who as we said before descends from the Canto vd Weinerau lines.
Ch Iniff Vagrant is an absolutely masculine male, with great strength and proportions. Again he is well known for very good fore and hindquarter assemblies. He has also like Prima Zorba produced very plush coats, which helps in the glamour department. From this sire line many outstanding dogs and bitches have been bred. In Western Australia, Lindendale Thunderbolt BS Cl I A Z Exc Merit was widely used over a number of bitches with the very successful mating for Iccara Kennels producing Iccara Hard Rock BS Cl I A Z Excellent Select. Also producing great success was the combination of Iccara Chivies Caddy, a Prima Zorba grand daughter to Lindendale Thunderbolt producing two Excellent Select bitches and the Exc. Merit dog Iccara Intrepid BS Cl I A Z. The combination of Iniff Vagrant over Prima Zorba produced some outstanding fore and hindquarter assemblies with much glamour. Again we see the Canto/ Quanto effect coming into place with very rewarding results for those who combined these bloodlines.
In recent years we have seen the very strong influence of Bedwins Seigfreud BS Cl I A Z Multi Excellent. Siegfreud was very widely used across Australia and to his credit he produced both very good males and females with much strength and type coming through his progeny. I am sure that had Seigfreud lived longer, he definitely would have gone Excellent Select (the highest grading a dog or bitch can received). Again we saw much masculinity in his sons and very good sex differentiation in his females. Siegfreud was the product of Quanto/Canto bloodlines. Siegfreud’s sire was the German Sieger Jeck v Noricum, VA. Hence we received the benefit of the Jeck lines in Australia. From Siegfreud came Aldaina Noricum Monza BS Cl I A Z Excellent Select and his litter sister Aldaina Noricum Minnou BS Cl I A Z. Aldaina kennels had great success through their bitch Iccara Krista who was a daughter of Karlstadt Tumbling Dice BS Cl I A Excellent Select. Again we see the effect of Quanto coming through over Canto to produce absolute strength and type. Of recent time sires who have come to the fore producing many outstanding GSD's are Lesko v Wildsteiger Land BS Cl I A Z Excellent Select and Iwan v Lechtal BS Cl I A Z Excellent Select. Both sires have proven themselves to be very valuable to breeders. Sadly Lesko passed away recently, so we will have to wait on his sons and daughters to produce on. Iwan v Lechtal has had much success as a sire with many of his progeny competing and winning their classes in the show arena. We are seeing the bloodline of Cello vd Romerau coming through strongly. Again the Quanto/Canto effect can be seen through the Q Litter Arminius. The Cello bloodline is also represented in Western Australia by Ch Triumphs Kazan BS Cl I A Z Excellent Select, whom has produced a outstanding daughter in Eisenland Zilli.
