Constitution and Rules


The German Shepherd Dog Association of Western Australia (Inc), like many other organizations, associations and clubs, is an incorporated organization under the Western Australia Associations Incorporation Act 1987. In essence, this incorporation legally governs club activities and also indemnifies office bearears against personal liability for actions and decisions made by the whole committee and/or club, in addition to many other lawful requirements stipulated in the Act.

Recommended Breeding Practices - (first adopted in 1977, last amended at General Meetings on 15 October 2001 and 14 July 2003)

A Stud Dogs.

1. The stud dog must be successfully breed surveyed.

2. The following points should be clarified.

a. How many matings should there be?
b. Is a return mating available?
c. If not, will the stud fee be returned?
d. Is there a service fee?
e. When is the stud fee/service fee due for payment?
f. Does the owner of the stud dog require progesterone tests to be done?
g. The above points to be settled to the satisfaction of both parties.
3. The use and availability of the stud dog to be ascertained by the owner of the bitch. A time lapse of 24 hours is recommended.

4. The owner of the stud dog will mate his dog only to breed surveyed bitches.

5. The number of bitches serviced by the stud dog during a year are limited to 60, this includes AI and chilled semen.

B Brood Bitches.

6. The bitch must be successfully breed surveyed and over 18 months of age, at the time of mating.

7. Bitches may not be bred from more than twice in three successive heat seasons, unless that bitch has heat seasons of less than one per year. Bitches may not be mated more than twice in each period of 12 months. If a bitch is mated twice in a 12 month period then another litter will not be registered until a period of 12 months has elapsed from the date of whelping of the second litter. Bitches may not whelp more than 6 times without veterinary certification of fitness for further breeding and permission granted by the CAWA Executive before the bitch is bred further.

8. Immediately that a bitch to be mated comes into season, contact your veterinarian to see if she requires antibiotics or any other treatment.

9. The owner of the registered brood bitch will mate the bitch to a breed surveyed dog only.

C Puppies.

10. Puppies should be a minimum of 8 weeks before leaving the breeder.

11. The breeder will ensure that all puppies are wormed at regular intervals according to the manufacturer’s instructions and immunized at 6 to 8 weeks by a veterinarian.

12. All puppies must be tattooed between 7 and 8 weeks under the GSDCA Tattoo Scheme.

13. All puppies should be kept in a clean and healthy condition and free from vermin.

14. The breeder must issue information on general care, diet, worming and immunization to the puppy buyer.

15. A five (5) generation GSDCA Pedigree or a similar computer generated pedigree must be issued to the puppy buyer by the breeder. It is the responsibility of the vendor to transfer the CAWA Certificate of Registration into the new owner’s name.

16. All normal coat puppies must be registered on either the CAWA Main Register or Limited Register. Long coat puppies will be sold as pets only and be registered on the CAWA Limited Register. Blues, whites and browns are not to be registered.

D General.

17. The breeder will provide and promote to the puppy buyer an application form to join the GSDA of WA (Inc).

18. Any application for variation to any of the above practices must be made in writing to the; GSDA of WA (Inc) Judges Sub Committee, GPO Box S1299, City Delivery Centre, Perth WA 6845.
